Giving Aid That People Need

Debate Time!
Read the article, "Giving Aid That People Need" on page 11. 

Here is P6 Faith's dilemma.... to donate in kind OR to donate in cash.... 

Please respond to this motion.
It is always better to give cash than to give donation in kind to the survivors of disasters.
                                         What do you think everyone?

    I think that we should donate in cash because people might be allergic to the food and there would be wastage.But when we donate in cash,people would be able to buy their own food and there won't be wastage.

    We should donate in kind because the shops there might be closed and people will not be able to buy food they need.If we donate in kind they will be able to survive with food.
    If the food is all vegetarian most probably there will not be wastage.

      I think we should donate money because they could buy foods and goods with the money.I agree with what Alaina said.If you donate food they will depend on you for food. If we give them money they will know what to buy them self and they will also save their money to make their country good as before.

      I don't think it really make sense as if we donate in kind they will get the needs immediately. If we donate in cash, they may use it for other needs. If we give them in kind we can also give them more and of we give cash it might not be enough. I disagree with Zeenath Nisha from P6 Faith.

    I think we should donate in kind because people can consume the food immediately and if we donate in cash the people may still need to go to other state to buy food as the shops might be closed and the people still need to wait for a longer time to get food and may not survive.

      I think it is not just for the country. The cash and kind donation is for the needs of people, just the country. It might just be a state not a whole country. I disagree with Li Si Qi,unknown.

    We should donate in kind as all the shops in that particular country would be closed due to some natural disasters and if we donate in cash,we need to go to another state to buy their needs and it would take a longer time to get to them.

    I think that we should donate in kind because what if the money they give might not be able to be used because the shops near by might have been crushed or collapsed by other buildings that's why we should donate in kind and not in cash.because even if they get all the money they ever wanted,it will just be nothing but more trouble to the filipinos

    i think we should donate in kind because if we donate in cash, some people are allergic to some type of food, and there will be wastage of food, so it is better to donate in kind.

    I think that we should donate in cash as because people might not like the things or food kind people gives to them, if we give them cash, they could buy their own food and the things they like personally. If we give them enough cash, they could also buy their personal needs.

      But there is a risk of people gambling away the donated money instead of buying their needs, so I disagree.

    I think we should donate in kind because donating in cash may delay time and waste time buying the food all the way to the other states and then bringing the food back to them. Also, they can immediately consume the food given which saves a lot of time and could save many lives.

    I think we should donate in cash because if the shops in the state is closed, there are still other shops in other state that might be open or available.Yes, they can donate in kind but when they buy the stuff, they use cash, right? People might be allergic to the food they provide, and there will be wastage going on. For adults to buy food and to sent the food to the people in need, they also need cash to do all that stuff. If we donate in cash, they get to buy items they need and they would not be any wastage.

    I also think that we should donate in kind to give the filipinos clothes/shoes to wear and if we donate in cash new clothes will not be able to be bought but if the clothes were still able to be bought they will still have to wash it or else the clothes will feel itchy in their bodies

    We should donate in cash because there might be some people that are vegetarian, halal or allergic to certain food. If some people are allergic, there will be wastage in food and money used to buy the food.

    I think we should donate in cash because in one country there is a lot of states and with the money they have, we can go to other states to buy food for ourselves . If we donate food for them, the food will not last long and it will become rotten.

    I feel that we should donate in kind because people can get help immediately. for example: If they are lack of food due to an earthquake, we can provide food for them. if we just throw them money, they cannot buy anything, as there are nothing to buy. If we give them food and drink, they can at least survive for a few more days. We have to decide when to give them money and when to give them kind in different conditions.

    I think we shuld donate in kind because money cannot help them. if we donate money, there is no shops to buy things.they need food and water most importantly. if we donate in kind , we could donate what they need.

    I think we should donate in kind as money might be used for the wrong causes such as buying drugs drinking or smoking but if we do a kind deed such as washing their dishes or sweeping their floor this might benefit them as an old saying says 'money does not bring happiness'but' many friendships start from a kind word .

    I think we should donate in kind as some shops may be closed. The shops may also be destroyed. The people can get their daily needs immediately and not travel and buy the needs. The money may also be used by the gamblers in the family to gamble and not use it for the family. We should donate in kind so it also from the heart, not just I give you the money without the kindness from the heart.

    I think we should donate in kind as the shops may be demolished by a natural disaster. If we donate in kind, the people can get their needs immediately. If we donate in cash, there would be a problem if all the shops are closed for repairs. Although people could buy what they like when we donate cash, there is also the risk of gamblers wasting the donated money. I think that donating in kind or cash is fine, as long, as it is from the heart.(But preferably, I still think that donating in kind is better)

    I think donating in kind is better, because some people will gamble the money away instead of using it to buy everyday supplies and food(If we give them money) but sometimes, if we give food, some people will not eat it because they are very picky. Although we could give them a variety of food!

    I think we should donate in kind as we can provide them food and things they need for survival, I we donate in cash, they have to go to the shops to purchase the items and the shops there might be closed due to the cold weather or natural disasters... And if we give money to the wrong person example a gambler, he/she might gamble to money away instead of providing foo or things for survival for his/her family an if we give some cash to a person who takes drugs, he/she might use the money we give to purchase drugs instead so I think donate in kind is the best.

    I think we should donate in kind because the person might not know how to buy things with the money as he or she has not went to school before. If the person is a gambler, he or she might even gamble the money away.

    I think we should donate in kind. The person might not know how to use the money wisely. The person might be a gambler and gamble away all the money donated by us. Before donating the things, we should understand their needs and donate the things they need.

    I think it is better to donate in cash as the people may not be able to finish the food we give them. Who knows if the food is contaminated? If they are gamblers, serve them right. They know they have very little money and they spend it all on gambling.

      I think we should donate in kind, but first, we needed to know what they need. We should not donate in cash as there are some people who do not spend money wisely(example: Gambles).

    I think we should donate in cash to organization, so organization can buy whatever things needed for the people. The people may need lot of different things during this period so we may not able to provide those like medicine or accommodation. It will good to donate as cash to organization like red cross which will in turn provide kind to people.

    I think we should donate in kind to the person because they can get their food and supplies immediately. I do not think it is a good idea to donate in cash as no knows what will he/she will use the money for. Example: Gamblers will use the money to gamble.

    we should donate in kind because some people will use up all the money on things that they do not need and that later they will starve. if we donate in kind,we can provide them with food,and so that they do not have to think of what to buy if they have the money.and if the shops are closed,they cannot buy anything. so that is why i think we should donate in kind instead.

    First we should know what kind of situation they are in. If they are disabled (eg. very old people and handicapped) we can give them cash. If they are healthy and lost their belongings due to natural disaster, we can ask them what they need and buy for them. We should not give cash to the healthy people as they might gamble with the money. I think it is better to give cash to the disabled people than giving the money to the healthy people.

    I think we try to donate in kind to ensure the fullest usage of things we donate . According to my opinion ,there are many reasons for not donating in cash.1.We don't know where the amount will actually be used .2.Some people are drug addicts and they always use donations to fulfill there drugs need.3.Some people are not wise enough to spend where it is needed

    My personal opinion is that we should donate in kind because as a student we don't have that much money. At least if i donate in kind i can donate them my used clothes and other things.Also i can ask my friends and relatives to donate their used clothes and other things as well.I can also ask my parents for canned goods.

    I think donating in cash is better, because people from anywhere can also help. It is a faster way to meet their needs. Their needs may be clothing, medicine, blankets, glasses or even slippers. Donating to individuals may go wrong, so we should choose the right service organizations by hearing in the news channels and donate to them.
